Power Washing

As for the exterior of your home, while it makes look clean to the eye, we make sure to power wash prior to painting. This will remove dust, mildew, and any loose paint. Power washing allows the paint to adhere correctly and last much longer. We believe that using the traditional methods from painters of the past provide a much better finish, even for modern applications.

We continue to do this the old fashioned way by scraping by hand with knives and wire brushes to remove existing paint that may be peeling, bubbled or loose to ensure a smooth, tight surface for painting. At Masterson Painting LLC, we always clean up the mess when we are done too!

Scraping & Minor Wood Repair

At Masterson Painting LLC, prior to beginning any woodworking project we properly prep the wood for stain. Our paint crew will make the wood as smooth and perfect as possible to ensure a great finish. We know how to address blemishes prior to staining or painting. If this is not done accurately, the stain will highlight scratches and dings in the wood. The expertise of our painters knows exactly which grit and professional products to use for a beautifully stained piece of wood or trim.

Priming

Once we have prepared the surface well, we will have a nice tight clean surface ready for us to prime. All exposed surfaces will be treated with premium oil and bonding primers to seal the surface as well as provide a solid foundation for the proper adhesion of new finished products.

Bare wood, water stain, rust, metal surfaces and new carpentry will be spot primed. Plywood surfaces are treated with specialty primer that bridges most of the weather cracking that is typical of this material. Under certain conditions, our painting contractors may recommend a full coat of primer.

Caulking

After preparation, we will have created a clean surface for good adherence to caulking products. Our exterior residential painting contractors will caulk seams, cracks, nail holes, joints and major wood joints. We will fill in gaps around foundations, windows, doors, vents, and other areas that could potentially allow in cold air or heat.
